Racism in Society
In 2017 Jordan Peele directed “Get Out” a movie with wide spread interest and a urge to watch it. Get Out is about a black boyfriend and a white girlfriend that decide to go on a trip to meet her parents. Her whole family is white and a little bit socially awkward but not overly. I was pleased with the way Jordan Peele portrayed the main characters in a way that further show the main ideas of the film. I loved the film but it had me wondering, what if the race of the characters were flipped. This would change the whole movie and the way a viewer views the movie and evaluates it. Through culture and society its viewed that whites might act and be different towards a person of color. I would like to see the roles flipped. How would the world react and what would the viewer think/feel. This change could add some push back because of the race switch. This movie would be a first of its kind and could be a birth stone of a future topic or it could fail. My research focused mostly on black and white actors, racism, and racism in movies.
Annotated Bibliography
“Get out & I Am Not Your Negro”
This article focuses on the way Jordan Peele went for while directing this film. He used realities of an average person of color to portray ideals while also adding comic relief. Jordan uses this film to push many types of boundaries but it seems to have paid off. Jordan wants viewers to understand many people of color have paranoia about kidnapping, slavery, rape, murder, and more. Jordan thought of a genius was of creating tension and forcing social problems with a follow up of joy and laughter, he had perfect execution.

It talks about society should get to understand their cultures and ways of life before making assumptions and having bad thoughts. They believe advocates and high powers individuals should be front runners to contribute towards a stronger knowledge about these topics.
Jordan Peele on The Deep Horros of Racism
In this interview Jordan expressed that a large reason of the theme of this movie was that he felt racism wasn’t getting called out and talk about enough. He expressed that he wanted to make a movie from his prospective as a black man and show how simple gathering can be turned into a conversation about difference in skin color and how they can connect that way. Through this movie he really wanted to express that little things most people never think twice about might not be the same experience for a person of color.
GET OUT
Out of 30,000 Hollywood actors, how many were black?
In this article they are showing the inequality among actors and actresses. 73.1% of actors were white, 12.5% black and the rest are a mix of different ethnicities. These numbers are very lopsided with about 3/4 actors are white. This study took 700 top grossing movies from 2007-2014 and analyzed them. Only 17 of the top 100 films from 2014 featured a non-white leading or co-leading actor. This article expresses the belief that not only should they include more diversity but the way a certain person is being betrayed in a film is just as important.
